Restaurants Near the Host Hotel

Here is a list of restaurants nearby to the host hotel. The restaurants vary between 10 – 20 minutes away by taxi and are located on the South Coast of the island in or around the St. Lawrence Gap area. As it will be Barbados’s “high season” while WMC attendees are on the island, and the restaurants are located in a very popular area, it is recommended that guests make reservations at their restaurant of choice in advance. Please note that in some instances, guest credit card information may be required in order to hold the reservation.

The restaurants in Barbados, provide a choice of French, International, Nu Bajan, Italian, Thai, Nouvelle, and Creole cuisine. They are categorized by location, either South (S) or West (W) coast, and by price, either Moderate (M) or Deluxe (D).

With its techno-chic flare, excellent service, and attentive staff, it’s no wonder why Buzo is the talk of the town.

Some additional casual restaurants that are also located in the St. Lawrence Gap.

This vibrant Mexican Grill and Margarita Bar is a favorite spot for locals and tourists alike. Open seven days a week, Cafe Sol attracts our famous ‘Tex-Mex’ dishes, our massive margarita list, fun, cozy atmosphere, and our abundant portions of food. Plus, we offer a large ‘gringo’ menu for the less adventurous! We offer a wide variety of Mexican and international dishes, as well as perennial favorites like cheese nachos, sirloin steak burritos, sol soft tacos, char-grilled chicken, and barbecue burgers.

Located in St. Lawrence Gap, one of the best nightlife areas of Barbados, Cocktail Kitchen is redefining Caribbean cuisine and cocktails. Taste food prepared by the Top Chef in the Caribbean ‘Chef of the Year’ Damian Leach. Local favorites include the Roast Breadfruit & Lobster or the Catch of the Moment. Pair great food with our tantalizing signature and classic cocktails. We recommend trying our Rum Cocktails – Barbados is after all the birthplace of rum. Combine our food and cocktails with the effervescent atmosphere that is St. Lawrence Gap and you have all the ingredients for a perfect casual night out.

The restaurant initially began as a wholesale distributor for the island’s hotels and restaurants. A Cooked takeaway service was added; along with a friendly free beer while you wait. Shortly after that, the health inspector demanded we go the whole way or “wholesale only”. This was around 1998. So long-time friend, and fellow musician with the local VSOP Jazz band “Stu Jenkins”, became the resident artist (designer) and we named the upcoming restaurant “LOBSTER ALIVE and all that Jazz”. After feeling our way around, the restaurant soon grew to become a hit with international critics, restaurant guidebooks, and our many repeat customers. Now we seat up to 80 customers, cater to weddings, private parties, and boat trips, and have organically grown into one of the best live jazz hubs on the island.
